Hey again!
So currently I am a senior at OU striving to be a nurse
practitioner. I have completed my minor, Sociology, and the prerequisites for
Pre-nursing. I am now a pre-Multidisciplinary Studies major hoping to graduate
this spring with a Bachelor's of Science. This summer I was able to visit my
mom and stepdad in Colorado and my dad in Texas. I am very family oriented so I
soak up my time when I am with my family over break. During summer I was also
able to celebrate my mom's birthday in May and mine in June! I am the youngest
in my family, however, I believe I am the most responsible. I have a twin
sister, Carly, an older brother, Eric, and two older step brothers, Ryan and
Austin. I have a wonderful kitty Oliver who is roughly 4 months old and is
crazy as ever. He is constantly running and jumping all over the place (we have
carpeted walls so he literally climbs the walls-it is somewhat humorous but
also terrifying). I love all food genres but my favorite is pizza for sure.
Like I said in a recent post, I love to travel and hope to backpack over around
Europe within the year. I have always found an interest in broadening my perspective
of the world and hope I can add more experiences in Italy, Spain, Ireland,
Germany, and many more places. J
Furthermore, when it comes to my profession I haven't
decided what I exactly want to do when I become a nurse practitioner. I do sway
towards pediatrics, but I think ninety percent of students going into the
medical field feel the same way before graduate school. Once I settle down I
hope to move somewhere else...probably Colorado but I try to keep an open mind
when planning for the future. Either way, I am excited to see where my next
steps in life take me!
How cool that you have a twin, Courtney! Maybe that is a topic you will want to explore for this class: as you can guess, there are all kinds of stories and legends about twins; they are fascinating, and some of the gods of mythology are twins like the Greek Castor and Pollux or the Ashwins of India. Here's the Wikipedia article with tons of links: Twins in mythology
ReplyDeleteAnd your kitty Oliver is beautiful! If he is just four months old now, you will get to watch him really grow up during this semester. What an adventure that will be, full of bouncing kitty energy. Enjoy!
We have several things in common. I am also a senior at the University of Oklahoma. I am a political science major, but I also have a minor in sociology. I also have family living in Colorado, near Winter Park. How cool that you have a twin. Twins runs in my family but it skipped my generation. I am the second to the youngest out of six children.I tend to think I am the most responsible as well. Then their is your love of pizza. Pizza is by far my favorite food. I have always wanted to visit Italy. I hope you get the opportunity to go. After I graduate I plan to attend law school. Like you I am unsure exactly what I want to do. I believe I want to be a criminal defense lawyer, but I'm hoping school will help me decide. It was fun reading your introduction and look forward to reading more through out the semester.
ReplyDeleteYour cat is so adorable! I also have a little kitty (although she is actually very fat) and she is perfectly grey. She showed up at my door one day in the pouring rain and I kept her. She and my dod are the very best of friends. They cannot be separated. I was born in Colorado. It's a beautiful state. I am an only child, so I'm pretty jealous of the amount of siblings you have because I always ended up having to talk to myself. Not to sound sad, because my Mom is great and my very best friend, so I never felt alone. It sounds like you have a lot of amazing things on the horizon of your life. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI am also a senior this year, but will be graduating in December! Congrats for making it this far!!! I absolutely love Colorado and plan to move there after I finish my masters program to start my career and life there. Before I decided I wanted to become a drug and alcohol counselor, I was pre-med wanting to be a pediatrician so I think it is super cool you are thinking about doing pediatrics. I am also wanting to do a european backpacking adventure. I've been to Barcelona,Spain and it is one of my favorite places I have been. The gelato is AMAZING!!! Best of luck to you in all the you do!
ReplyDeleteI'm a senior too and cannot wait to graduate! Your kitten is so precious, I too have a gorgeous cat named Phylix! She is the sweetest main coon kitty ever. But she is about 5 or 6 years old so she is a little bit older than Oliver! And that is so funny you say that about the carpeted walls because I have the same type of walls and my roommate/best friend's cat climbs them when he gets hyper, too! It's so entertaining but also somewhat scary.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read more of your stories!
Courtney,
ReplyDeleteI also have a twin sister, Gillian, the obvious difference being that we are fraternal twins. It's a great relationship to have, but I do get tired of all the questions about it. You should also take your trip to Europe if you get the chance, it's a lot of fun to travel, especially with friends. Thanks for sharing, good luck graduating next spring and finding your dream job afterwords.
Andrew
Hey Courtney!
ReplyDeleteLike you and Andrew I also have a twin sister! Do you ever get asked if you can read each others minds? I feel like that is the running joke that people ask me when I meet them. I think it is awesome that you are leaning towards pediatrics. One of my best friends chose that field and she loves it! As for your love of pizza, if you are a big home-cooker try getting a pizza stone, trust me it is a literally GAME CHANGER! I look forward to reading your stories and good luck graduating and picking a field of study!!
Hello Courtney!
ReplyDeleteIt’s so cool that you have a twin! I always wanted someone that I could be as close to as a twin. I have a kitty too! My cat is named Ame, and she’s two years old. She’s the most adorable little fluff ball ever. I used to be Pre-med towards Pediatrics too! I don’t really feel like dealing with people though, so I switched to Microbiology. Good luck on your Nurse-Partitioning!
I’m sure you’re probably sick of hearing this, but I’ve got to say it anyways—it’s so cool you have a twin. Also, the image of a cat running up the carpeted walls and terrifying everyone is completely golden, and kind of just made my day, haha. Colorado seems like it would be a nice place to live, especially since you’ve got family there. Hope you get to go on your backpacking trip soon, and good luck with your nursing career!
ReplyDeleteHey Courtney! I absolutely love your cat, Oliver. He kind of reminds me of Salem from Sabrina the Teenaged Witch. My roommate has a cat the looks exactly like him but she is a she and her name is Violet. I know I'm not the only one to say this but it's so cool you have a twin! It was nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteHi Courtney! Nice to (finally) meet you! Haha I can just imagine Oliver climbing on the walls… what a fun picture. Ahh I would really like to get a chance to go to Colorado. Mountains are my favorite, so it sounds so beautiful. That’s so cool that you have a twin! And older brothers… I’ve always wanted older brothers. Good luck as you finish out these next two weeks, and then your last semester of college!
